DANVILLE– The second largest State Lodge in the nation, Illinois Fraternity Order of Police (FOP), has chosen Scott Bennett as their candidate for the 52nd Senate District this year.

“Scott Bennett is committed to keeping our children safe,” said Chris Southwood Fraternal Order of Police State Lodge President. “The residents of Champaign and Vermilion counties should be proud to have a such a strong advocate representing them in Springfield.”

The Illinois FOP proudly represents over 33,000 active duty and retired police officers – more than 10 percent of all FOP members nationwide.

Bennett has represented the district for two years. As an attorney and former senior assistant state’s attorney in Champaign County, Scott Bennett has seen the firsthand dangers that accompany a lack of educational and employment opportunities for community youth. He has been working diligently to address these issues.

The Illinois FOP’s endorsement means they know Bennett cares deeply for the men and women who risk their lives every day to keep the residents of Vermilion and Champaign counties safe.

“Scott Bennett has a proven record of working with the men and women in uniform to make sure they have the tools to keep our neighborhoods safe,” said Southwood. “We look forward to continuing to work with him.”

The 52nd State Senate District spans Vermilion and Champaign counties including Danville, Champaign, Catlin, Georgetown, Oakwood, Rantoul, Ridge Farm, Urbana and Westville.
